Company History and Background

August 1st, 1961

Ernest Levingston started an engineering business in a one-room office on West 11th Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The staff totaled one person - Ernest Levingston. He called this new business Ernest Levingston & Associates.

1961-1976

During the mid 60's and early 70's, the firm moved to several larger office spaces as it grew in Lake Charles. It eventually moved to Sulphur, Louisiana, in 1977, at which time the name was changed to Levingston Engineers, Inc. This Company's Home Office location remained 510 South Cities Service Highway, Sulphur, Louisiana

2008 - 2025

In 2008 the firm was acquired by Mark G. Nixon and Louis Daniel “Dan” Leveque. Nixon served as President and Chief Executive Officer and Leveque as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In 2012, in an effort to diversify our service offerings, Levingston Engineers, Inc. changed its name to Levingston Group, LLC.  And in 2016 Darrel Darbonne was named and served as Vice President of Technical Services until 2025.  In 2018, Josh Crookshank was appointed as Manager of Projects directing overall project operations.

2025 - Present

On January 1, 2025, the organization strengthened its leadership structure with updates to its senior management team. Josh Crookshank was named as Vice President of Projects, Lee Zimmermann as Vice President of Technical Services, and Donna Smith as Vice President of Recruiting. Mark Nixon remains at the helm as Chief Executive Officer and President, supported by the senior management team and Dan Leveque, who continues in his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
